Los Angeles trio Winnetka Bowling League today shared an acoustic version of their latest single, “This Is Life” which features friends Medium Build and Dawes. The track came together when WBL’s Matthew Koma posted a TikTok poking fun at Nick from Medium Build. They became fast friends and bonded over their shared love of Dawes, resulting in the organic collab. The joy the musicians had in creating this ear-worm of a song was apparent on the video for the “This Is Life” and, with the acoustic version, that shines through even more (as does a giant dose of humor). Koma says, “Taylor can really sing and Nick can really sing but when you add me in the mix we’re just a bunch of sloppy dudes laughing and giddy about singin’ in a truck. Gosh this day was fun.”
Winnetka Bowling league recently released their debut album Sha La La via Local Weather/ MDDN Records. The LP serves as a document of Koma’s rediscovering what he loves about music; a back-to-basics and grounded release that finds him taking risks while being in conversation with his younger self.
Kicking off with sold-out shows in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Denver and more, Winnetka Bowling League are currently touring North America playing songs off Sha La La and other fan-favorites from their previous numerous EPs and singles. The run concludes with a sold out headline show in New York City at The Bowery Ballroom on July 23. Reflecting frontman Koma’s inner world that collides comedy with music, buzzy stand-up comedian Veronika Slowikowska will support the New York show with Caroline Baniewicz supporting the sold-out show in Chicago this Friday. In September Winnetka Bowling League will head back out on tour as the direct support for Mother Mother. All dates are listed below and tickets for all shows are on-sale now and available here.
