Desert Noises

Desert Noises are an Americana-tinged indie rock band recently signed to SQE Music who will release their debut LP 27 Ways for release in late March 2014.  Four restless young guys from the Utah Valley, they’ve been touring relentlessly over the past two years, sharing the stage with bands like The Head and The Heart, Local Natives and Blitzen Trapper and catching the attention of American Songwriter, who profiled the band earlier this year. 27 Ways was produced by Nic Jodoin (Black Rebel Motorcycle Club).
Ghettoblaster recently touched base with the band about their favorite records of the year, and they delivered, as a collective, their 2013 go-to list.  This is what they were digging.
Wakin On A Pretty Daze – Kurt Vile
Sucker for the vocal drone and trancing ways of Kurt Vile. love the feeling over all on this record and the way it can instantly change i.e. “Pure Pain.” Beautiful.
II – Unknown Mortal Orchestra
This album has groove. Great tunes and the sound to make you dance or sink into the couch starring at the ceiling.
Muchacho – Phosphorescent
Have always loved Mathew’s voice and lyrics. The experimentation on the record worked well and with great emotion.
3030 event 2 – Deltron
You get to hear Deltron and Dan the Automator explore different styles and forms of production.
Spector At The Feast – Black Rebel Motorcycle Club
This record travels for me. These rock n roll tunes took me all over the map. From darkness, pain and loss into the light, into reflection and more.
About Farewell – Alela Diane
Alela has a chilling voice. The record is filled with a heartbreaking organic sound and some brilliant Carol King moments.
From The Top Of Willamette Mountain – Joshua James
Joshua has a knack for songwriting and teaming up with producer Richard Swift produced this extremely solid record start to finish.
Push The Sky Away – Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds
I view this record like I’m walking through an art gallery. If, song by song, you wish to be gazing into a new painting, a new landscape..you will surely dig. Visceral, visual, poetic.
The Next Day – David Bowie
This record is a trip. Seriously had no idea where I was going to end up and I loved it. It’s a trip.
Reflektor – Arcade Fire
I can’t stop my feet from moving with this one. Excellent for that headphone got to get somewhere walk.
