“Vexed” is the third and final single from The Bug’s forthcoming ‘Fire’ album and features Philadelphia-based poet and musician Moor Mother. Speaking about the collaboration Kevin Martin AKA The Bug said: “I had worked/toured with Camae aka Moor Mother on the ZONAL album ‘Wrecked’, and we subsequently toured some The Bug ft Moor Mother shows together. We found we had a shared taste for musical pyromania, verbal intensity, and dropping mind bombs. (That and both being rabid hip hop headz with an encyclopedic knowledge of its history, and a particular love of Mobb Deep/Wu tang etc…). When I asked Cam if she would use the platform to unleash her frustrations, she replied, all guns blazing with ‘Vexed’.” Adding her own thoughts, Moor Mother continues: “Anytime I work with The Bug I am always thinking of the live performance aspect. So I wanted to do something I knew would go over really well in a live setting.”
It follows the previously released singles “Pressure”—which features longtime friend and collaborator Flowdan and was recently followed up with an official video directed by Denisha Anderson and shot across one day in East and South London—and lead single “Clash”, which received plays from Sir Spyro on Radio 1Xtra and Steve Lamacq and Mary Anne Hobbs on 6Music.
