The 1984 Draft Share “Rhino”

The 1984 Draft is set to release its sophomore LP, Best Friends Forever, on January 192023 (Poptek Records/Sell The Heart Records/Engineer Records (UK). The band premiered the video for the record’s first single, “Rhino,” recently.

“’Rhino’ was inspired by a line I read in an article about The Replacements. It basically said that when they got out of the van they were a complete mess and smelled like rhinos. I think this really ties to the general theme of the song and how things are always a bit of mess. There are two sides to everything and a lot of the time those things end up being a battle between what’s good and messy. Essentially, I just wish we would all try a little harder to be on the good side of things.

“The video was taken at a live performance by Bobby Tewksbury and Fred Vahldiek. Bobby did all the video editing. It was a special night and attended by several friends I have made over the last 25-plus years playing music. We also wanted to make a video that captured what it is like to be at a typical Draft show.”
