Sunburster is back with their signature neolithic, knuckle-draggin’, grunge-tinged sludge metal. Trudging to Extinction is due out via Knife Hits Records on May 5 on cassette and digital formats. Order it here.
Trudging to Extinction comes in the wake of its predecessor, the 2021 self-titled effort. There are hints of Crowbar here, Alice In Chains vibes there, although it offers its own brand of heaviness front to back… this time with NIN and MELVINS covers to boot.
The album’s first single, “Roach,” hit streaming this week. Of the track, vocalist Mike Murro says, “It’s pretty much just about watching everyone around you and who’s been around you your whole life start to physically and mentally deteriorate and live long enough to become the villain. All the high and mighty gatekeeping egos who made everyone miserable struggling to stay relevant.”
