In collaboration with Sounds of Saving and the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, Philadlephia’s Soul Glo present a fresh installment of the acclaimed series “Song That Found Me At The Right Time.” In an open and frank narration, the band’s Pierce Jordan opens up on how music has played a significant role in his mental health journey bluntly stating “art is the only thing that keeps my desire to be here.” He further shares “Being able to see the world through any given person’s eyes, out of the 6 billion people that exist here, the fact that nobody is exactly the same. It’s one of the consistently unfolding beauties of life that really makes it worth sticking around for. Everybody has their reason for continuing and I guess art is mine.” The band opted to share their take of System of A Down’s “Soil” as their “Song That Found Me At The Right Time.”
Sounds of Saving say, “In the midst of a resurgence of hardcore and aggressive music, the Philadelphia based punk band Soul Glo emerges as a dynamic force, embracing the movement, infusing it with their unique touch, and effectively making it their own defining moment. The sheer intensity and brilliance of their 2022 album “Diaspora Problems” left a lasting impression on us and made it clear that we must work with them on our “Song That Found Me at the Right Time” series.
Soul Glo seamlessly embodies the essence of punk’s rich lineage, drawing inspiration from its predecessors while simultaneously offering a fresh and unparalleled perspective to a scene that was yearning for innovation. Their presence is propelling the genre forward.
A Soul Glo live performance is an experience of catharsis, both for the audience and the band themselves. Their music, along with this remarkable video, delves thematically into the complexities of rage, bigotry, and the often absurd aspects of human nature. Demonstrating a poignant vulnerability, the band extends a subtle yet powerful metaphorical hand, inviting all listeners to join them on their journey.
Working alongside Soul Glo on this video and cover of System of a Down is truly an honor.”
