NYC’s Little Hustle premiere their mesmerizing new single “Hall of Gems” today on Ghettoblaster. On the track, the group blends ’90s indie rock, shoegaze guitars, buzzing synths, and an impassioned vocals from Rebecca Keith to create a contemporary anthem with a classic feel.
In celebration of the new single, Little Hustle will be playing a mini East Coast tour starting today. Full dates below with more to be announced. The Brooklyn band’s debut album, Notepasser, mixes danceable anthems with shades of indie rock, riot grrrl, and psych.
Little Hustle is Rebecca Keith: vocals and keyboards, Eli Jacobowitz: vocals and guitar, Michael Morini: drums, and Markus Geisler: bass.
This is what Keith had to say about the song:
“‘Hall of Gems’ is one part field trip turned heist fantasy, one part sci-fi, and one part Pride song. It’s a tribute to one of my favorite places in The Natural History Museum. We used to run up and down the carpeted ramps and pathways, and I dreamed of curling up in a corner under the soothing/eerie glow–moons of emerald, sapphire, and gems with names I couldn’t pronounce. The combination of light and muffled sound in the Hall of Gems always made me feel like I was floating in space or walking on another planet. If I were running out of there with my pockets full of gems, I’d probably head into The Ramble in Central Park. The idea of liberating all those beautiful colored stones in that historically gay trysting place in the park — one of the most lush, wild spots in the park — felt right, like a tiny fantasy tribute to the disco, glitter, gorgeous lives that passed through the Ramble during our childhood.”
