Born out of a basement in Seattle’s Greenwood neighborhood in 2015, High Pulp’s winding music effortlessly draws from diverse influences. The lineup-fluid collective transmutes from locktight trio to expansive ensemble as they meander from jazz to funk and hip-hop to punk, melding myriad melodic touchstones to create something distinctly avant-garde. Soon they were gracing the stages of iconic venues such as Neumos and The Crocodile and playing featured slots at festivals like Upstream and BAMF.
Today, Ghettoblaster is proud to proud to premiere High Pulp’s single “Broken Little Dolls.” The track features vocalist Shaina Shepherd, who uses her instrument to tell a story of resiliency through empathy and critical awareness. Raised in Brooklyn, she studied classical vocal performance at NYU before relocating to Seattle.
“Broken Little Dolls” will be on the bands upcoming EP, slated to be released this fall.
