Doubt & Distortion the lastest from Columbus, Ohio’s Bicentennial Bear was recorded at Relay Recording in Columbus during approximately 10 days of cumulative studio time that spanned almost two calendar years. It sees the light of day on November 20 on vinyl, CD and digital formats. The band is no doubt familiar with comparisons to Superdrag, Superchunk, New Pornographers, Cheap Trick, Split Enz, The Cars and Jimmy Eat World. None of those are completely accurate, but they definitely land in the right ball park.
Listen and decide for yourself as the band shares opener “Fits & Starts” exclusively with Ghettoblaster today. This is what vocalist/guitarist Billy Peake had to say about it.
“‘Fits & Starts’ is the first track on our new album, Doubt & Distortion. For me, it was the perfect opener because the album was literally written and tracked over a two year period of many fits and starts. The song also ties in many of the themes that weave in and out of the record, like the notion of being true to oneself and the reality that nothing great in life comes easily. Finally, I’m proud of how the song features all of the facets that I hope make Bicentennial Bear cool: huge guitars and drums, solid bass, soaring viola and some catchy melodies.”
