New Jersey’s own Ruby The Hatchet premieres its song “Gemini,” which is off the group’s new sophomore full-length release, Planetary Space Child (Tee Pee Records), dropping this Friday, August 25, 2017. The track gives you more than a hint of what to expect here: a fuzzed-out hallucinogenic trip that, while it may show semblances of being a throwback, takes you on a journey through 2017 and beyond. “The band conjures occult-flavored, evil hard rock with hypnotic and mythical lyrics into a witches’ brew of ominous, wild rock sounds.” A lot to take in? Well if you listen to “Gemini” you’ll understand the descriptiveness there is direct and on point.
Psychedelic space rockers Ruby The Hatchet are one of heavy music’s finest on-the-rise bands. They evoke a decade’s worth of growth and maturity gained in just a few short years. The genesis of the band’s 2011 self-titled EP to present day has been nothing short of stunning. Forming after a series of New Jersey basement practices, this doomy quintet brings an organ-driven Deep Purple groove, wailing female vocal harmonies and fuzzy guitar and bass tones that are nostalgic, but not dated.
