Dallas-based math-folk rockers Painted Light is set to release their debut LP, Comfort In The Consistency, via Friend Club Records on March 11. Drawing on influences as varied as Fleet Foxes, Hikes, and Father John Misty; Painted Light embarks on a trail that is both familiar and yet entirely their own.
Today, we have the pleasure of premiering “Hallway Song.” Singer/vocalist Jacob Hedke says, “I wrote this as a sad and tense, yet dancy and fun, song about my divorce. It was basically about me moving on through the pain and seeing that life goes on and it’s often wonderful again.
“I wanted the music and the lyrics to contradict each other. I also really, really wanted to write a poppy upbeat chorus-filled song that was in an odd-meter. This song is written in 5/4 for the most part.”
