Okay Lindon’s new EP and sixth release, Passion Pain, brings another swerve in sound from this mostly Cincinnati-based quartet. The meandering, ambient songs take their time floating over cold, synthy, reggae rhythms but when they finally reach their destination, band members Dustin Smith, Jordan Elam, Erica Biemesche, and Andrew McEwen deliver hooks and melodies that are instantly memorable.
The EP, which sees release via Poptek Records October 20, 2023, was written, recorded, and produced by Smith, and mixed and mastered by Dustin Smith and Isaac Karns.
Today, the band shares the EP’s first single.
“‘Pain is Lonely’, along with the rest of the record, confronts a darker few years I’ve had,” Smith admits. These songs are kind of a recantation of the happiness and clarity I celebrated on the last two albums.”
Pre-orders for the EP begin today, and “Pain Is Lonely” will hit streamers on Tuesday, September 5.
