The Gill Brothers are set to deliver their take on revved-up rock and roll when their self-titled debut hits the streets on March 15. The effort comes with a guarantee to shock your system with all the electricity and urgency of a thunderstorm. The guitars shred and the leads bite like a gator while the bass struts and drums pound to the rhythm of your accelerated heartbeat. While their name is reminiscent of other groups of kin – most notably of the Doobie brothers variety – the group provides enough originality with a rough and tumble blend of blues and rock that is sprinkled with a dash of country and a hint of psychedelia for added flavor.
“We were just holed up in a wood shop on our parent’s property in the woods and we finally had enough time to make the record we had always wanted to make,” Jacob Gill says. “So, we just hunkered down to do everything ourselves. We didn’t have a drummer or a bassist at the time, and if we did, COVID meant that we couldn’t be in contact with them anyway. We didn’t have a great group of backing vocalists, fancy microphones, or very much experience playing slide guitar. In may ways, this record represents what we hoped Gill Brothers Band could be, and it’s still inspiring us to chase that vision.”
With a diverse and intense approach, the band is right at home playing anywhere from punk basements to roadhouse bars. You can place your bets with the rest of your foldin’ money because one thing is for certain, Gill Brothers Band is here to stay until the lights go out or their amps burn up in a fiery plume of smoke.
Today, the band premieres their single, “Rock and Roll.”
