Hailing from the English countryside, Ewy is an indie-folk-punk solo project known for its aggressive vulnerability and DIY ethos.
Their newest single “A Joke That You’re Not In On,” explores navigating social situations as a neurodivergent person. Listeners will hear hints of singer-songwriter fare similar to Bright Eyes, Ezra Furman, but also edgy folk-punk sounds popularized by acts such as Crywank and The Front Bottoms. Also taking inspiration from everything from midwestern emo to post-punk., Ewy can best simply be described as a multi-genre artist.
At 20 years old, Ewy explores themes of gender, politics, death and love through the lens of teenage angst. Their confessional and relatable lyrics frame a narrative that their growing fanbase are also sure to feel represented by.
“A Joke That You’re Not In On” drops on February 2 across all streaming platforms. Pre-save it here and listen to it below.
