Cleveland, Ohio’s Brain Cave presents the second single from its upcoming album, Foot Off the Gas (Head2Wall/The Ghost is Clear) dropping on February 2, 2024. “Neologism,” is a three-minute romp that defies easy categorization, blending elements of noise-rock, hardcore, and at times, what feels like surf rock. The song features a mix of melodic and dissonant guitars, accompanied by a driving bass and robust rock drums, and with vocals that exude energy and urgency that do more than keep up.
“This song is sort of about how nothing feels fresh as far as how people speak or think,” shares guitarist/vocalist Mike Bellis.
“This one is one of the first we wrote for this batch of songs. Super fun. One of my personal favorites. We don’t often repeat ourselves much within a song and I think we cover a lot of ground in three minutes on this one,” adds drummer Matt Ducey.
Simply, “Neologism” is a sonic adventure for fans of experimental and boundary-pushing rock music. This track sets the stage for an album that is likely to be diverse and full of surprises.
