Stockholm and Dublin-based artist SNKT has released his debut album No Saints today. The album, written and produced solely by SNKT (real name Jack O’Connor), is a heartfelt dance-pop tribute to personal growth and his journey towards self-acceptance. No Saints is a testament to SNKT’s talent as a songwriter and producer, and a must-listen for fans of passionate dance pop.
Jack O’Connor says of his latest album, “I feel like this record is very me. Through this record, I was able to be my unashamed gay self truly and I hope to spread the same joy that I was able to hear and feel in my teenage years to anyone who’s going through a rough time.”
No Saints explores themes of love and lust, but at its core is a document of personal growth and self-acceptance. SNKT’s songwriting is a masterclass in pop music, drawing on influences from Troye Sivan, Lauv, and Years & Years to create a sound that is uniquely his own.
To celebrate the release, SNKT has chosen to highlight his latest track today, “Too Close,” which is already making waves in the pop world. Of the track, O’Connor notes: “This song was a revelation in many ways, because I went into wanting to write a moody song about a relationship that was affecting me in the worst way possible. But being able to listen to myself in that moment made me confident to just go full-throttle with my gut feeling, which was to write with the realisation that ‘this situation isn’t working, but we’re still gonna have a lot of fun getting it wrong.”
SNKT’s previously released singles from No Saints, “Almost Always” and “Lost in Love,” has been praised as a pop masterpiece by critics and fans alike. The tracks showcase O’Connor’s deft vision of heartfelt dance music and explores the complexities of a relationship that is ultimately doomed to fail.
