As if we weren’t already chopping at the bit for The Mountain Goats to release their hotly anticipated new album Goths, the band have shared the latest single “Rain in Soho”.
Unlike the first wistful single “Andrew Eldritch Is Moving Back to Leeds”, John Darnielle’s cutting lyrics of the vanishing of friends, places, and the safety of harbors are downright menacing on “Rain in Soho”. On top of that, the Nashville Symphony Chorus add a level of darkness that’s staggering to listeners.
Listen to “Rain in Soho” here:
Goats will be released on May 19th via Merge.
