Rising Kitsuné Musique artist Khazali has released “High Hopes” – a sun-kissed banger that has potential to be a true song of the summer. In contrast to the more chilled out vibes and downtempo percussion of Khazali’s previous EP The Rush, “High Hopes” is a bonafide pop smash, complete with shimmering disco guitar riffs, a sleek electro pop sound, and a massive hook that swings for the fences without sacrificing the subtlety and craft of his earlier work.
This new release from Khazali follows his excellent EP The Rush which was released in March of 2022 and received acclaim and coverage from outlets including The Line Of Best Fit, Thissongissick, Dummy, Ones To Watch, and more. Speaking on his intentions behind this new single and the new directions to his sound that it signals, Khazali writes “I’m so proud to share this absolute summer anthem with the world. ‘High Hopes’ is about as feel-good as a song can get, my heart literally races every time I listen to it. It’s a bright and colourful tune which I wrote about letting go of what you need to let go of to become who you’re meant to be, and the doubts that naturally come when you’re stepping into a new world.”
With a knack for catchy melodies and sophisticated indietronica production, Khazali has already created a brand of pop that spans melancholy, euphoria and dreaminess, not unlike the instantly relatable sounds of Arlo Parks, Dua Lipa and Alfie Templeman, with an indie edge reminiscent of The xx and Metronomy. His debut EP, Going Home, Vol. 1, released in April 2021 via Kitsuné Musique grew quickly to become the label’s top performing new release.
