A message from Roberto Lange, mastermind behind Helado Negro:

I approached “More” and The Last Sound On Earth (Big Dada) – my upcoming EP out November 11, 2025 -by using echo as an instrument. An echo is more than just a sound phenomenon. It can be a concept of space and time, blending abstraction with reality. I feel like we’re all currently living in a kind of echo—a crisis of the soul that’s infinitely feeding back across the world. While making this music, that feeling manifested into a tempo and sounds that invite your body to move, to feel your limbs in rhythm with the beat. It’s music to dance to, to be in motion. To find a space to dance in time. I sing through an echo effect, not to hide my words but to catch the rhythm of the echo. The feedback is always on the horizon, slowly building up until all there is is an echo of sound. A sort of controlled chaos, somewhat cybernetic music. A system informing what happens next. The lyrics, drenched in a feeling of anguish and a pit in your stomach, are what we all feel when reading (and seeing) about the world every day.

Music will not save the world, and at the moment, I’m lucky to be able to make and share music. This music I share starts with me and goes to you. The process is the magic, informed by the feedback loop of emotional confusion and letting it untangle into the intangible world of sound into music. I need that to live. “More” and my new EP were made last year while floating everywhere on the road. Made on my computer and my sampler, some echo effects and synthesizers. Mixed and mastered by my friend Keith Reynaud. It’s accompanied by a beautiful animation including the lyrics by Annapurna Kumar. The artwork is by Robert Beatty.
