But before Hanni El Khatib ever picked up a guitar and explored rock n’ roll through garage-tinted lenses, he was making beats in his bedroom on an MPC 2000 & SP-1200.

His love of Hip-Hop is obvious, considering his collaborations with the likes of GZA, Aesop Rock & Freddie Gibbs, emcees/musicians that are notable for lyricism. With “Solid Gold,” Khatib pieces together electronic beats, collaborating with Chicago’s Frank Leone dropping rhymes over vintage synths and MPC beats.
