Greer Look To Being Better With Single “Happy People”

Greer have announced their brand new Happy People EP due out November 5 on Epitaph Records. Produced by John Congelton (Wallows, St. Vincent, Angel Olsen), the 4-track collection is packed with killer riffs and air-tight songwriting that suggest a band well beyond their years, while also possessing an unmistakable youthful exuberance. Alongside the announcement, the spirited rock quartet have unleashed the lead single and infectious album title track “Happy People” alongside a colorful video.

The crunchy melodies of the Happy People EP bear the mark of classic power-pop influences like Elvis Costello and Big Star. The thematic bent of the album was partially borne out from the COVID-19 pandemic but the spiky, full-bodied four tracks are packed with truisms that are relatable at any point in time. “Happy People” is, in bassist Seth’s words, “a self-reflection on bitterness and resentment, and trying to become a better person out of it. I’ve struggled with feeling easily angered by a lot of things, especially given what we experienced in quarantine, so writing this song was a therapeutic experience.”
