When scrolling through Bay Area vocalist Destani Wolf’s career, you bare witness to an individual that has created genre-defying music. Spanning an impeccable forty albums to date with various artists, Wolf has also serenaded crowds on San Francisco’s preeminent stages, including Yoshi’s, SFJazz Center and Stern Grove Festival internationally. She also crafted compositions and sang for TV and films including Disney’s “The Descendants,” Kevin Hart’s “Laugh at my Pain,” HBO’s “Momentum Generation,” “So You Think You Can Dance,” and more.
Today, Wolf has released her latest single “Call Me.” Following the path of her previous efforts, listeners walk away with hearing a timeless, soul ballad. Watched under the eye of producer Dan Ubick (The Lions, Nights Owls, The Keystones), “Call Me” is a breathtaking homage to the late 60’s and early 70’s records we hold dear to this day.
“Call Me” is an emotional plea for connection, Wolf’s vocals yearning to be calmed by a loved one’s voice. Drummer Mario Calire (The Wallflowers, Ozomatli), bassist Dave Wilder (Macy Gray, Norah Jones), organ player Dan Hastie (Orgone, Alicia Keys, Solange Knowles) and guitar player Gawain Matthews (Mickey Hart) bring such sensitivity to the track while Rebecca Schlappich Charles’ (Ben Harper, Mariachi El Bronx) string arrangement pulls you in even deeper.
