Florida-based indie popsters Cannibal Kids drop a new single, “Voice Mail,” ahead of its release deadheads, slated for a February 21 release. Do the Cannibal Kids actually breathe a youthful energy with the new release? If “Voice Mail” is any indication, yes, yes they do.

The single is sugary pop sweetness propelled by drums and piano work that would make Elton John blush. deadheads is the latest record Cannibal Kids have been working on since their last single “Love Girl” back in 2018. The album’s name is derived from the botanical term “deadhead” which means “the process of removing dead flower heads from a plant to encourage further blooming”, which is quite literally what this album central theme is: growing up.
