2013 has been a landmark year for post-hardcore quintet Frameworks.  They have released a new video for their song “Preamble” off their 4-way split with Kittyhawk, Prawn and Droughts that comes out this winter via Fair Weather Records (see it here: http://youtu.be/mMfkXWPzps4.)  Additionally, Topshelf Records will release Frameworks’ debut full-length in 2014.  The band will head into the studio with Jack Shirley (Deafheaven’s Sunbather) this winter to record the album.  The Gainesville, FL band will also play several dates in the Western U.S. surrounding the recording (all tour dates below).
In preparation for the album, Ghettoblaster caught up with guitarist Cory Fisher to discuss one of his favorite albums.  This is what he said about Weezer’s Pinkerton.
What is your favorite album? 
Weezer’s Pinkerton.
Do you remember when you received or purchased the album?
My dad got me the Blue album in 7th grade after I heard the song “Undone”. I completely fell in love with that album. So the next time my dad took me to the mall to get a CD I didn’t hesitate to pick up their follow up album Pinkerton and from the first song to the last song I was blown away.
What is your favorite song on the album?  
Seriously every one of these songs mean so much to me it’s hard to choose a favorite. If I had to choose one it would be the last song “Butterfly”.
What is it about the song that resonates with you? 
I’m a sucker for a sad song and Rivers’ voice just rips my heart out every time I hear “Butterfly”. The lyrics end with Rivers softly just singing “I’m sorry” and being a loser teenager hearing my idol apologizing over and over just felt so right.
Have you ever covered a song from the album?  
A couple years ago I actually spent a whole day just sitting in my bed looking up all of the song’s chords and just playing and singing them over and over. I wish I could find some dudes to do some Weezer songs with.
What is it about the album that makes it stand out against the band’s other output?  
I love Blue and Maladroit is rad, Green is sweet. Hurley, their newest release actually isn’t bad. But the thing sets apart Pinkerton to me is the amount of emotion in it. Rivers goes all out lyrically. Musically it’s their most unique. Every member pushes their skills. The songs are super well written, the production and the actual recordings are top notch. My favorite sounding album ever.
Have you ever given a copy of this record to anyone?  What were the circumstances? 
I’m always showing everyone new shit I’m into. Whether they wanna hear it or not.
Which of the records that you’ve performed on is your favorite?  
Our four-way split with Prawn, Droughts, and Kittyhawk is definitely my favorite. I feel like those bands are all doing super cool unique things with their sound. Before I even knew that we were doing the split I was a huge fan of each band so that was awesome.
What is your favorite song on the record and why?  
“Preamble.”  It was the first song we’ve ever written where I felt each of our musical personalities transcended into the music. I usually get burnt out super quick on my own music, but I still get stoked every time I hear this song.
