Album Premiere | My Wife’s An Angel, ‘Yeah, I Bet’

Philadelphia noise rock enigma My Wife’s An Angel releases its Yeah, I Bet, an album that is equal parts thrilling and terrifying, via Knife Hits Records (Rid of Me, Moros, etc.), Broken Cycle Records, and GRIMGRIMGRIM on Friday April 18. Pre-order the album here and give it an early listen below.

Band frontman, G, offers the following missive about the album’s artwork, which also underlies its apparent mission.

“Jeff was my gramma’s younger brother & died when I was a still a young lad.

He was born with Lesch-Nyahn syndrome & Cerebral Palsy

He wasn’t thought to live past childhood but lived into his early 30s.

This picture is believed to be his graduation photo.

Everyday of Jeff’s life was filled with an immense amount of work for my great grandparents but they would do anything to give him the best life possible.

I’ve met few people in my life that experienced as much pain as my Uncle Jeff that were still able to smile and laugh the way he did.

The past couple years it’s been difficult to listen to people complain about pretty much anything, especially the mundane. The best I could do was to nod my head and think ‘Yeah, I Bet,’ and when I look at this picture of my Uncle Jeff it humbles me and makes me smile imagining that’s what he’s saying too.

Yeah, I Bet.

With the biggest, most unabashedly genuine smile with missing teeth and covered in scars, all dressed up in a wheelchair and looking you directly in the eye. Highly aware of how painful the circumstances are, but still so grateful for this moment that he’s able to find joy in it… Even if, on top of it all, it’s while having to listen to you bitch.”
