The Nautical Theme are set to release their Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed EP tomorrow, July 30, via digital, CD and 7″ vinyl formats. Formed by Tesia Mallory (vocals, keys) and Matt Shetler (vocals, guitar) in 2017, the group performs a satisfying blend of indie pop and folk that will resonate with fans of The Swell Season and The Civil Wars.
For their third studio release, The Nautical Theme recorded the release at their own Ready Shet Go studio. The release was mixed by Micha Carli at Popside Recordings and mastered by John Naclerio (American Authors, My Chemical Romance).
This three song EP travels through past, present, and futures while exploring the common thread behind the question “what defines commitment?”
“Is it hope or reliance, pain or perseverance? Sometimes commitment sustains us and sometimes it destroys us.,” says the duo. “Share these joys and struggles with us through these songs.”
This EP follows the release of the band’s Lows and Highs LP in 2020 and Float LP in 2018.
Today, Ghettoblaster has the pleasure of streaming the EP early.
