The Pines Of Rome Share “Kali’s Tongue,” Announce New Album

First emerging back in 1999 with its music, the Providence, Rhode Island group Pines of Rome released another LP in 2003 and then disappeared for 20 years. The band re-emerged in 2023 with The Unstruck Bell, and now have announced a new release, When You Are As Full As The Moon (Solid Brass), which is set to drop on 6/19/26.

The album title comes from a Zen Buddhist poem by Theri Punna: “Fill yourself with the dharma. / When you are as full as the moon– burst open. / Make the dark night shine.” Bit of a lofty goal, maybe, but in this era of shadows, finding some way to shimmer in the darkness might be the only rational response. This album was recorded and mixed by Seth Manchester at Machines With Magnets in Pawtucket, RI. It starts with the death of a parent and ends with the recognition that past mistakes might actually have saved us from a far worse fate.
