Momma’s New Single “Not Sacred”

Wrapping up a breakthrough year, Momma today released Welcome to My Blue Sky (Deluxe Edition)–an expanded digital reissue of their critically-acclaimed latest album–via Polyvinyl Record Co. in North America and Lucky Number. The Brooklyn-based band of Etta Friedman (songwriter/vocalist/guitarist), Allegra Weingarten (songwriter/vocalist/guitarist), Aron Kobayashi Ritch (producer/bassist), and Preston Fulks (drums) here unveil five new recordings that bring new life to their most successful LP yet: four album b-sides, as well as a cover of “Christian Brothers” by Elliott Smith/Heatmiser. Their introspective new single “Not Sacred” showcases their trademark hooks and riffs while offering a poignant reflection on family dynamics and growing older. “Both of us grew up with alcoholic mothers and sharing that formative experience is what tethered us together in the first place,” explain Friedman and Weingarten. “While Welcome to My Blue Sky is mainly written about romantic hardship, during that time period we also were starting to come to terms with our own relationship with alcohol. ‘Not Sacred’ is about us growing up and starting to see ourselves in our mothers, which allowed us to gain a sense of connection to them as adults.”

On the heels of their headlining tour of Europe and the UK–which included festival appearances at Pitchfork Paris and Pitchfork London–and following a round of US amphitheater shows supporting The Marías, Momma will play their biggest headlining show to date at NYC’s Brooklyn Steel on November 20th. They’ll also tour Australia and play Japan for the first time–with even more festival shows ahead, including Boston’s Something in the Way–in early 2026. Tickets for all announced shows are on-sale HERE and a full itinerary is listed below.

“This deluxe edition has four b-sides that never made it onto the record, because we never got to a point where we felt like we could fully finish them. It features two solo acoustic songs that have always been in the back of our minds, but we hadn’t figured out how to transition them into a full band setting,” Momma says. “We decided to record them live with acoustics, and felt like that was the best way to give them justice. Wrapping the deluxe edition is our cover of the song ‘Christian Brothers’ by Elliott Smith/Heatmiser, which is a song that we have been covering and playing live since high school.”

Welcome to My Blue Sky and its singles (“I Want You (Fever),” “Rodeo,” “Ohio All The Time” and “Bottle Blonde”) ascended Momma higher than ever, amassing accomplishments like their late night television debut on Jimmy Kimmel Live!.

Mainly recorded live with the full band at Studio G in Brooklyn, and produced by the band’s Aron Kobayashi Ritch, Welcome to My Blue Sky is their fourth album and the follow-up to Household Name. Momma arrived at the album’s 12 immaculately composed yet immediately potent songs by matching the raw urgency of rock with the sticky melodies and taut arrangements of pop—a dynamic born from their deepened commitment to finding the most direct vessel for their emotional expression. The result is a bold leap forward for one of the most creatively uncompromising and singular voices in music today.
