Song Premiere | Beneath You, ‘Summer Days’

Bay Area punks Beneath You release its debut album, General Hermitude (Sell The Heart Records) on November 21.

Beneath You brings melodic pop-punk mixed with touches of emo, ska, and alt-rock to the indie scene. The band is powered by brothers Gavin and Jason Hammon of Dance Hall Crashers on drums and guitar, Serge Verkhovsky of Limp and Year of the Fist on bass, and newcomer Mary Diridon on vocals. Catchy riffs, tight rhythms, dynamic vocals, and thoughtful lyrics define Beneath You’s songs, weaving nostalgia with something undeniably fresh.

“Summer Days” is the final single before the album’s release. “Summer Days” is fast and free and recalls long afternoons of roaming with friends and drinking from the hose. The lyrics trace the thrill of neighborhood summers—hide-and-seek in the front yard, roller skating at the rink, and feeling unabashedly sure of yourself in those last moments before adolescence crept in.  Tracked, mixed, and mastered by Ryan Perras at District Recording (San Jose), “Summer Days” plays like an anthem for a childhood that was not perfect, but safe enough to roam, and big enough to feel free.

We wanted ‘Summer Days’ to capture the innocence and excitement of our childhood summers, without pretending the world back then was perfect,” says the band. “The lyrical snapshots, playful riffs, energetic rhythms and sing-song outro lean into that nostalgia in such a fun way. It’s one of those songs that just makes us smile.”
