Will Butler + Sister Squares share “Burn It Away”, just ahead of the band’s summer tour of Europe and the United Kingdom. The beguiling new track is yet another showstopper from Butler and the Sister Squares—Miles Francis, Julie Shore, Jenny Shore, and Sara Dobbs—a dark mirror of the infectious grooves found on their self-titled 2023 album.
Of the single, Will Butler says, “I wanted to make an open-hearted song about destroying the world, about despair in the face of trying your best to find hope. There’s a lyric that got cut about thinking you see the sun rise but it’s just the forest fires burning over the horizon. But I think music is intrinsically hopeful—always implicitly arguing in favor of creation—so maybe the song balances itself out.”
Will Butler + Sister Squares arrive in Europe on the heels of Butler receiving two Tony Award nominations—Best Original Score and Best Orchestrations—for Stereophonic, the David Adjmi play that broke the record for most Tony Award nominations en route to winning five, including Best Play. Tickets for all shows are on sale now.
