The ever-prolific and always active Guided By Voices is back at it again with the announcement of their first release of 2023, La La Land, a brand new LP slated for release on January 20 via GBV Inc. To kick off the album cycle, today, they share the record’s first single, “Instinct Dwelling.” The track was premiered by Rolling Stone, who also hosted the album announcement, declaring that “Guided By Voices has never been like other bands.”
On their forthcoming release, Robert Pollard wrote:
“La La Land is somewhat of a companion piece to Tremblers and Goggles By Rank and continues to explore a path of diversity in styles and in longer, more adventurous song structures.”

Their last and third album of 2022, Scalping The Guru, is out October 28 via GBV Inc. It is described asan archival GBV release envisioned and sequenced by Robert Pollard as a cohesive album, featuring s elect tracks from four Guided By Voices EPs released in 1993-1994 by Domino, City Slang, Siltbreeze, and Engine Records. These hard to find records are essential listening for fans of Vampire On Titus and Bee Thousand, which exhibit GBV classics including “My Impression Now,” “Matter Eater Lad,” and “Big School.” Many of these tracks have never been available to stream until now.
