At the drop of the first beat of an Mz Neon track, you will find yourself immersed in work that’s genre-bending and ultimately inquisitive. Her sexuality as a trans woman and defy misconceptions about herself and anyone who identifies outside of the binary spectrum – both gender-wise and ideologically. Then you discover the fluidity of someone who is comfortable within their skin as lyrics confronting issues of identity, sexuality, politics, spirituality, and lived experiences come out effortlessly. With a sharp wit and unflinching sensuality, Neon has made audiences all around the world stop and take notice.
Mz Neon has dropped her latest single “Pussy Stick” today along with an accompanying video. Here’s Neon on the track: ” I just wanted to rap about authentic situations, stories, and concepts that I’ve experienced; juxtaposed with conceptualized storytelling based on life experiences, quantum realities, and spiritual revelations…there’s a lot of esoteric references throughout, some more obvious than others.
“Pussy Stick” (Vol. 1) sets the stage and sort of says where the fuck I’m at…where the fuck I’ve been…and who the fuck I am. Though I do think the song is more sophisticated than that, that’s the essential message; a calling card of sorts, encapsulating my paradoxical grit and glamour in a way that I felt kicks this project off most authentically. There’s not really much more to read into beyond what the lyrics are, except that I’m saying it… and that’s the point basically. Someone needed to do it…so might as well be me.”
Co-producer Adam Bravin says, “PS is a banger. This is some real grimy hip hop shit. Mz Neon signed, sealed and delivered an incredible performance on this track. Turn it up to 10 and wake up the neighbors!”
Mz Neon is also thrilled to join Poppy on a 25-date tour starting on March 8 in Sacramento and spanning all across the United States.
