The Los Angeles is pretty obvious in its delivery, but far from pretentious. The band of Julien O’Neill (synthesizers, instruments) and Samuel Shea (vocals, instruments) made headway with Warbly Jets self-titled debut full-length back in 2017. Pop affluence is part of the duo’s musical language, and they’ve capitalized on it the past few years. Yes, it’s easy to familiarize oneself within the group’s brash guitar-rock.
Warbly Jets has released its sophomore release Monsterhouse (Rebel Union Recordings), and while the band hasn’t eschewed its guitar drive offered up early on, the band gets down with the other side of its musical soul with keyboards & synths for delectable pop explosiveness. From track to track, the band’s movements are masterful, squeezing in every nuance of its very being into song.
In celebration of the Monsterhouse release, the band shares the video for its single, “Let’s Go.” Here O’Neill & Shea deliver colorful imagery, with constant outfit changes on this fantastic bass-heavy pop jam dripping with nostalgia.
