Growth with no reward. Finding strength in your less desirable traits. Coming up with the perfect comeback hours later in bed, glaring at the ceiling. Asking yourself: am I improving, or am I just changing into something unrecognizable? Chicago quartet Ganser probe the futility of striving for self-growth during the chaos of our times for dark comedy and jagged sounds on their potent new album Just Look at That Sky (Felte Records), out July 31st.
The album follows up 2019’s 4-song You Must Be New Here (No Trend) and in anticipation of the release, the band shares its new video for “Lucky” which has a firm grasp, holding tightly to its post-punk influences.
Of the song, Nadia Garofalo offers:
“‘Lucky’ is a commentary on personal feelings of inadequacy and how these feelings can often result in unhealthy or extreme behaviors. Especially now, as we are in a time of uncertainty, it feels like we have even less control over what is happening to and around us. Isn’t it shitty when things don’t work out the way we’d hoped?!”
