Aureola
Out on Thrill Jockey comes Aureola, a split EP by Hush Arbors and Arbouretum who together had a goal in mind of expanding progressive and psychedelic rock; so they made this. Remember when Neil Young went extra crazy in the 80’s and experimented with synthesizers and wore suits? This album sounds like what he would have probably made then. Like he’s still kind of regular Neil Young, but the moon is beginning to come out and his clothes are starting to get a little tight and his werewolf ears are taking shape. Although Werewolf Neil Young sounds like a great thing, he’s really not. Werewolves eat kids. Aureola is worth a listen but it won’t blow you away. Now Werewolf Neil Young, he’ll huff and puff… okay, I’ll stop. (Thrill Jockey) by Blake Garris
