Matthew Mayfield has spent a little over a decade being dedicated to constructing music that has openly changed many to listen. Filled with grit within his songs, Mayfield carries a swagger and attitude that is bleeds through his soul, something that many wished to contain.
Mayfield’s latest album Gun Shy is described as a “collection of songs as varied as the emotions each of us feels”; darkness and hope are staples within the tracks. “S.H.A.M.E.,” the album’s third track, touches on what is currently Mayfield’s deepest concern–a world full of people that feel as if they are alone. “Shame is something that no one wants to talk about, but we’re all ashamed of something. We all have demons and things that prevent us from seeing our self-worth. The song is about connecting with people and letting them know they are not alone,” he says.
Being as how “S.H.A.M.E.” calls out for us as a human race to be empathic, understanding, and allow others to express freely about our struggles, Mayfield has partnered up Love Is Louder. The organization, founded by his friend actress Brittany Snow, fosters a supportive community/space to ask for help and/or start a conversation about dealing with shame, being mistreated, being isolated, and being misunderstood.
