DreamState began as a musical project by Natalie Grace Martin and Madeline Eckhart in December of 2017. Accordingly, the band chose their name to fit their sound, and I quote: “each song is a slice of a dream, and you can’t quite tell what’s real and what isn’t.” That description seems to be right on point. Natalie is a chameleon of sorts with a variety of imagery and character voices at the ready while Natalie, a trained multi-instrumentalist holds many tricks up sleeve as their album Parts One And Two, released earlier this year showcases. Not long after though, the dynamic duo followed up its debut album with the Mode Of Being E.P.
They’ve just released the video for “Normal” which is off the album, and a song that may have the message of being more than just a stereotype, but it’s more than that. “This song was a birthday present to myself,” reflects Natalie. “I wanted to write something that felt like a gift to myself. I made sure that it included everything I love.”
