Austin, TX-based White Denim today released the fiery new single “It Might Get Dark,” the second track previewing their anticipated new album Performance, out August 24, 2018via City Slang Records.
Singer-guitarist James Petralli explains the song is “loosely based on an old White Denim motif called ‘Pretty Boys and Girls.’ (The song) never landed on a record. We re-wrote the absolute shit out of it, nodded to Loose Fur’s ‘Laminated Cat’ in the new production and feel, stuck the ‘Mister Sandman’ arpeggio in the bridge, and now the biz execs have determined that it’s the summer smash we’ve not necessarily been waiting for… Either way, we hope you enjoy the sprightly despair of ’It Might Get Dark.’”
The band begins a summer tour with a show at Atlanta’s Aisle 5 on June 19th, while their headlining North American fall tour will launch with a show at St. Louis’ Fubar on September 11th and includes shows in Chicago, Boston, Washington D.C., and two nights at NYC’s Brooklyn Bowl in October.
