When members of such notable indie stalwart get together, there shouldn’t be any doubt in anyone’s mind that what will follow will be an explosion of technique, rattling instruments and an obscene amount of cacophony. The auspicious debut of Charnel Ground’s self-titled album will certainly find listeners wondering why the group consisting of Chris Brokaw (Come/Codeine), James McNew (Yo La Tengo), and Kid Millions (Oneida/Man Forever) hadn’t found a practice space sooner to combine their musical prowess. But no matter.
The band shares the first single, “The High Price,” a frantic no-nonsense instrumental track, from the group’s forthcoming album, slated for release on April 6, 2018 (12XU.) If this is any indication of what’s to come, everyone should be all in.
