EP Stream: Mountain Lions, Calm Wind, Starry Night EP
Mountain Lions debut is the culmination of five years of songwriting and story-telling by principle songwriter Steven Diaz. In his output he tackles internal struggles, death, and conjures simple descriptions of life’s more beautiful moments. Diaz moved to Cleveland, Ohio four years ago to join The Lighthouse and the Whaler and after touring with the band for three years, he realized that he had his own story to tell. He began devoting himself to writing songs with a new emotional awareness demonstrating the evolution he experienced while tackling new experiences.
In 2016, Steven packed up and headed to the foothills of the Appalachian mountains. As Diaz continues to write and produce from his home studio in to Chapel Hill, North Carolina, he is always thinking about ways to trickle the wisdom of the mountains down to the valleys below.
On August 4 he releases the Calm Wind, Starry Night EP, which Ghettoblaster is premiering below. The six-song EP is available via digital retailers and via a limited-edition wood-print made in collaboration with visual artist Nancy Luken. This is what he had to say about the effort.
“A friend once told me that a good song allows people to feel an emotion that they otherwise may not know how to express. It opens a window for them to feel something and belong.”
