Mark McGuire’s new album Beyond Belief is out this Friday on Dead Oceans. The album is another chapter in Mark McGuire’s extraordinary musical vision and sees him continuing to expand the depths of what electronics and masterful guitar playing can achieve.
THUMP began streaming Beyond Belief in its entirety today, saying, “It is blissful, loop-based music that gives off the cosmic twinkle of krautrock and vintage synthesizer music, but with a modern approach to songwriting.”

Resident Advisor recently described McGuire as “a modern Krautrock acolyte following in the footsteps of Manuel Göttsching, expands his typical palette on the new one.” Stereogum gave us the first track from the album writing “Earth: 2015″ is as chaotic and unsettling as life on this planet in these modern times, conjuring such a frantic jumble of guitar and keyboard sounds that at first I wondered if multiple browser tabs were playing music at the same time. Eventually it all coheres into a dark, dramatic, ’80s-inspired electronic instrumental that keeps unfolding for 10 minutes.”
