Half A Native is Buxton’s third studio full-length and second for New West Records. The album is a departure from the rustic sound they have become known for and adds elements of indie rock, psychedelia, honky-tonk, ambience and distortion, resulting in their most realized album to date. The album was recorded in Los Angeles with producer Thom Monahan (Devendra Banhart, Vetiver, Beachwood Sparks) and is out today, March 3rd.
Wondering Sound premiered the track “Icebreaker,” calling it “a frantic, dissonant track with plenty of twang in Trevino’s voice, and hints of psychedelia in its echoing guitar lines.” It is impossible to not see the obvious influence Buxton’s music has from their home state of Texas. Even if they sometimes only feel Half A Native.
