All Songs Considered Turns Ten

This week, NPR’s All Songs Considered music podcast turns ten years old. It’s one of the most widely heard music discovery podcasts out there. If you’re not listening to it, you probably should be.

Founder and main man at All Songs is Bob Boilen, and he spent a little time looking back at the history of the show and its meager beginnings:

I also remember one of the first emails I received. It was from a farmer in Vermont. He told me that his cows were overdue for milking, because he turned on All Songs Considered at 5 in the morning and watched the hour-long slide show, twice. That man was my hero.

And if you haven’t picked up a copy of Ghettoblaster Issue 23, you need to do that too. We have a great interview with Boilen in there. He shared with us about his history on the east coast music scene and what it’s like to get to pick new music for countless thousands of people every week.
