When your music is being compared to the likes of Brian Wilson, Neil Young, Syd Barrett, you are obviously doing something right.  Singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist Andy Gabbard has been hard at work recently prepping his sophomore album Plenum Castle.

Unlike the straight-forwarded fuzz pop that incorporated his debut Fluff, Gabbard’s latest features a deeper voyage into new sounds and styles.  With his stunning skills in songwriting, Plenum Castle promises to be another stunner from the Dayton, Ohio musician.

This past week Gabbard released the video to the “Impossible Girl”. Here’s Gabbard thoughts regarding the single: “With ‘Impossible Girl’ I experimented with a drum machine and various keyboards and ended up creating what was, in my mind, a New Edition-esque sound. The electric bass guitar is the only guitar featured on this track. The lyrics are super cheese. I wanted it to sound like the kind of music that was played at the roller rink or at the mandatory school dances I attended in middle school when I was a kid.”

Andy Gabbard’s Plenum Castle will be released on digital and streaming formats July 14th through Alive Naturalsound Records.

Legendary singer/songwriter Jack Lee has been on the radar of rock fans since the late ’70s, when he formed the iconic power pop band The Nerves, alongside Paul Collins and Peter Case. His songs have been covered by a multitude of artists from Blondie to Cat Power and Paul Young, but fans have found his solo work very hard to come by prior to this release.

Bigger Than Life is a double album filled with 23 memorable songs, all reissued for the first time since the 1980s, and showcasing the incredible songwriting craft of this reclusive pop genius.

Today, Ghettoblaster has the pleasure of premiering Jack Lee’s “Hanging On The Telephone. This track was originally written by Jack and recorded by his pioneering ’70s power-pop band The Nerves for their 1976 EP. It was also better known as an early hit for Blondie in 1978. This version of the track was originally re-recorded for Jack’s 1981 solo album Jack Lee’s Greatest Hits, Vol. 1, which has been out of print since the ’80s, and will be featured on the new Jack Lee 2-LP anthology Bigger Than Life out Nov. 25 via Alive Naturalsound Records.

Bigger Than Life will be available November 25 on limited edition colored vinyl and CD formats.

Beck In Black is a collection of songs from Left Lane Cruiser’s first albums for Alive, hand picked by original drummer Brenn “Sausage Paw” Beck (now replaced by Pete Dio), lovingly remastered. It was originally released this spring as part of an exclusive Metallic Gold Vinyl pressing for Record Store Day, and will now be available July 8 on CD and digital formats for the first time, with an additional three previously unreleased songs, including an awesome cover of Hoyt Axton’s classic “The Pusher.”

Trashed-out punk/blues duo Left Lane Cruiser has been making records for over a decade, and along with their music being featured in many hit television series such as BansheeBreaking Bad, and Nashville, they have been receiving critical acclaim across the globe. Left Lane Cruiser have toured relentlessly over the years, sharing the stage with artists such as Robert Balfour, T Model Ford, Lee Bains III & The Glory Fires, Bob Log III and many others.

To celebrate the release, Ghettoblaster has the pleasure of sharing “The Pusher,” a cover of Hoyt Axton’s classic song, today. Freddy J IV of Left Lane Cruiser had this to say about it:

“We had a blast recording this track. Hoyt Axton is an amazing songwriter. I’m also a big fan of his work in the Gremlins movie. We chose to cover this song because we truly respect Mr. Axton’s perspective on the difference between marijuana and narcotics. The difference between the dealer and the pusher. Basically, marijuana is beautiful and medicinal, while narcotics are evil and toxic.”

The Bonnevilles are a garage punk blues duo straight out of Northern Ireland featuring Andrew McGibbon Jr. on vocals and guitar, and drummer Chris McMullan. The twosome will be unveiling their explosive third full-length studio effort Arrow Pierce My Heart this spring.

With two studio albums already under their belt, the band has become one of Europe’s top alternative blues acts, sharing the stage with bands such as Left Lane Cruiser, James Leg, Johnny Walker and Guadalupe Plata, and appearing at both The Deep Blues Fest in Clarksdale, Mississippi and its counterpart in Germany.

The Bonnevilles’ Arrow Pierce My Heart will be available March 18 on CD, digital and limited edition colored vinyl through Alive Naturalsound Records. Pre-order album via iTunes: https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/arrow-pierce-my-heart/id1077525421

Ghettoblaster has the pleasure of premiering “No Law In Lurgan”. McGibbon Jr. had this to say about it:

“This song is about a fictionalized killing.  I use the name of my hometown of Lurgan in it, which may not be very wise but it fitted so I went with it. Although the event is fictional, Lurgan still has a bad reputation from the days of the Troubles. In fact, another track on the album is my way of apologizing; the song ‘Eroctica Laguna Lurgana,’ inspired by Jackie Treehorn, is the anti ‘No Law In Lurgan’ portraying it as the sexy place it really is.”

DM3 made their mark on the international power pop scene with three official albums from the mid-to-late ‘90s and are revered by fans and critics alike. Consisting of Dom Mariani (frontman of legendary Australian garage rockers The Stems & more recently the heavy-hitting rock band Datura4), Toni Italiano and Pascal Bartolone, this trio could, arguably, be the best power pop band Australia has produced.

Ghettoblaster has the pleasure of sharing DM3’s new remastered compilation album West of Anywhere, which will be available on limited vinyl, CD and digital formats via Alive Naturalsound Records.

Mariani had this to say about the songs that fill out this album, “Sweaty pubs with beer soaked carpet, late night sessions at Toni’s studio, rocking through Europe with the red Gibson Melody Maker – great times! In the face of a changing music scene we managed to find a place in people’s hearts and thrive with these songs.”

Brimming with creativity, Fluff by Andy Gabbard, his debut release as a solo artist on Alive Naturalsound Records, isn’t moving beyond what Andy has done, or will continue to do with Buffalo Killers. Sometimes, ultimately, you find yourself with extra moments and more ideas than one band can develop. So naturally, it made perfect sense to give that inward creative need an outlet. Fluff is the end result.

Cut in one 12-hour studio session, Andy took on the full responsibility of doing a solo album literally. He played every instrument and wrote everything you hear. Reviving an established relationship with Alive Records, on Fluff you can hear the deeply-solid effects of the grunge genre and mid-’90s ‘alternative music’ in a sonic gestalt. Exhibiting characteristics of fairly recent genres, as well as some classics that surrounded him during his youth, Fluff breaks barriers of seemingly comfortable, unthreatening music cultivating a physical embodiment of Nirvana, The Smashing Pumpkins, latter Beatles and even Brian Wilson!

Fluff defines Andy’s environment, a creative environment… an environment of ultra-dimensional levels. The days of solo albums being released due to further ‘artistic development’ past a bands catalog of hits, are over. Buffalo Killers continue their successful run and now, it’s not running alone. Fluff is the start of something great and fathers the true sonic beauty and the relative nature of one single person and their soundtrack of nearly unending smiles in a sea of tumultuous frowns. – Shawn Abnoxious

Andy Gabbard’s Fluff will be available March 24, 2015 on CD, digital and limited edition colored vinyl through Alive Naturalsound Records.

The Bloodhounds play blues, r&b and rock ‘n’ roll with a fresh, edgy, almost punk edge, and add a hint of a Latin groove to the mix.

Though founded on electric sound, they also dig the old jug band style of playing. Picking up cheap acoustic guitars, turning ordinary household items into instruments and constructing a traditional washtub-broomstick bass, they often busk in the streets of downtown Los Angeles to the delight of large crowds.

The band, formed by Aaron “Little Rock” Piedraita on rhythm guitar, Johnny Santana on bass, Branden Santos on lead guitar and Mark Schafler on drums and percussion, was discovered by Arthur Alexander (The Poppees, Sorrows) who has produced their debut album Let Loose!

The Bloodhounds Let Loose! will be available November 4 through Alive Naturalsound Records.

Seattle’s Lonesome Shack released More Primitive via Alive Naturalsound Records. The album finds the trio exploring the depths of boogie and country blues with a sound that is raw and immediate. Finger-picked guitar lines, soulful crooning and big danceable grooves the band take the American blues tradition to a new level, examining personal history, loss of friends and a burning desire to get to the primitive core of life.

The band began in New Mexico’s Gila Wilderness where Ben Todd hunkered down in the shack he built and studied the music of the American folk and blues lineage. In 2008 Todd joined up with drummer Kristian Garrard in Seattle, and in 2011 bassist Luke Bergman became the third member.

Lonesome Shack’s More Primitive is out now on CD, digital formats and limited edition vinyl through Alive Naturalsound Records.

Today Ghettoblaster has the pleasure of sharing their video for the title track. Todd had this to say about the video, “My brother and I snuck into a private resort’s mini golf course near Salt Lake City late one night and I let off some steam on the green.  It felt like the perfect setting for a ‘More Primitive’ video. This is a song about digging into the inner core of life.”
