You may have seen the boys that comprise Jake Simmons & the Little Ghosts on the highway recently. Cruising up and down the United States highways for the past eight years, this blue-collar band from Kalamazoo, Michigan have been pushing their van to the limits and then some. In a lot of ways, that’s the same approach Jake Simmons & the Little Ghosts take with their music. With a Hold Steady-esque awareness and indie sensibilities, the band is brash, honest, and true to themselves.
On November 2, Jake Simmons & the Little Ghosts will be releasing their third full-length album, Shake So Easy. Being released via Spider House Records, Shake So Easy is a celebration of the first chapters as a band and the sounds that formed their style, a decidedly midwestern take on Rock & Roll influenced by artists like The Clash, Black Sabbath, Otis Redding, and Tom Petty.
Ghettoblaster is excited to premiere the new single coming off the new album today, “Fade Away”. The lyrical content centers around what most of us have felt in some point of our lives: “’Fade Away’ is about busting your ass day in and day out for something that just doesn’t make you happy anymore. And deciding to say fuck it and do what’s best for you. I think it’s one of the best songs we’ve ever recorded. Also, it took me for-damn-ever to get that solo right,” Simmons declares.
