Rose is the collaborative EP between Lailah Reich & Tahif Attiek. Tahif, who has previously produced under the name of Nunca Duerma, is pursuing more of a focus on song-writing and building artists he sees that should have more of a spotlight. Rose is a perfect example of that.
Though not a native Chicagoan, Reich’s formative years weave with the sounds of that city; beat driven tunes, acid jazz, hip-hop, house, dub and experimental music. This in juxtaposition with being raised in a home of Steely Dan, Chaka Khan and Eric Clapton fanatics, have largely shaped Reich’s writing style and approach to singing.
Tahif Attiek is a music producer based in Venice, California. Under his previous moniker, Nunca Duerma, he has gained the attention of press outlets like the Chicago Tribune, XLR8R, Boiler Room and more.
This is what Reich had to say about the collaboration:
“Tahif is a natural when it comes to writing, his songs took me somewhere beyond myself. Inspiration comes from the friendships formed in collaborating and the places the music then takes you… it’s like the music creates you, not the other way. When I first heard the instrumentals for the project, there was just a spark. ”
Today they share Rose, which sees release via Young Heavy Souls tomorrow.
