Today sees Adia Victoria release a new EP, Baby Blues which consists of three vintage blues tracks, each marked with Adia’s unique interpretation. Adia notes, “When I first rolled into Nashville, I didn’t have my own music. All I had were the blues. To keep me company on endless bus rides ’round the city, these songs served as an affirmation of my silenced inner life. The blues keep me true to myself.” She is dedicating the project to the memory of Those Darlins’ Jessi Zazu who passed away in September.
Baby Blues tracklisting:
- Me And The Devil (Robert Johnson)
- Evil Hearted Me (Victoria Spivey)
- Ugly Brown (Lee Hazelwood)
2017 has been a busy one for Adia. She released the How It Feels EP in the spring and following that toured Europe. The summer saw her play the Forecastle Festival, the XPoNential Music Festival and July dates supporting Sturgill Simpson. Most recently Adia supported The National at their sold-out Boston show, performed at the Foo Fighters-curated CalJam Festival in Los Angeles and the Afropunk Festival in Atlanta.”
