OvO

OvO’s ninth album, Creatura, was released this month via Dio Drone Records. The veteran Italian duo’s raw and dramatic sound is a unique mix of primitive industrial, horror-movie ambience, and noise-rock punishment, led by the theatrically demonic vocals of Stefania Pedretti.

Counting Swans and Diamanda Galas as their biggest influences, Pedretti and co-conspirator Bruno Dorella have spent the past 16 years releasing albums on labels like Load Records (Lightning Bolt, Prurient), and performing across the globe with the likes of Godflesh and Thrones for a total of almost 1,000 shows to date.

Ghettoblaster recently caught up with the band to ask about some of the best albums they listened to this year. This is what they told us.

10) Hate & Merda, La Capitale Del Male

These guys are the last gem of the Italian underground. Right attitude and anger.

9) Fuzz Orchestra, Uccideteli Tutti! Dio Riconoscerà I suoi

One of the most significant Italian underground bands.

8) RYF, Love Songs For Freaks and Dead Souls

This girl looks like a punk that’s gonna beat you up, but her songs are fragile and incredibly touching.

7) Clipping,. Splendor And Misery

Forget about Kanye and Ocean.

6) Sumac, What One Becomes

One of the sickest records of 2016.

5) Necro Deathmort, The Capsule

Another great one from these great kings of nightmare.

4) Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds, Skeleton Tree

No words for this album.

3) Arabrot, The Gospel

What used to be our favorite live band changes completely, and still is a great band.

2) Neurosis, Fires Within Fires

Chapeau to the Kings.

1) Swans, The Glowing Man

Another masterpiece from the greatest band of our times.
