Astronautalis shares "Attila Ambrus," tours (2016)

Minneapolis-based musician Astronautalis promised fans that he’d release a brand new song if his music video for “Running Away From God” won a contest on mtvU.  A true man of his word, Astronautalis won the contest and released a brand new song called “Attila Ambrus” moments later. The song, inspired by a notorious Hungarian whiskey robber of the same name, shows a totally different side to Astronautalis’ forthcoming album Cut The Body Loose, out everywhere May 13. Where first single “Running Away From God” was deeply introspective, “Attila Ambrus” is it’s groovy older sibling, infusing enough elements of trad jazz and dixieland to keep the party going til sunrise.

The song is produced by Picnic Tyme (Erykah Badu) and features trombone from Bon Iver’s Reggie Pace. More than anything, “Attila Ambrus” maintains the album’s overarching theme of finding joy in the world around you despite all the bad, as Astronautalis infectiously croons “I know we got blues beating down our door, got time til sunrise so flip that deadbolt and get back out on that floor.”
Brilliantly produced by John Congleton (St. Vincent, Modest Mouse, Bill Callahan), physical pre-orders for Cut The Body Loose are available now: sideonedummy.com
Last month, Astronautalis announced a full U.S. and European headlining tour with Ceschi and Factor Chandelier that kicks off May 5 in Chicago, IL. All tickets are on sale NOW: bandsintown.com/Astronautalis.
