2		Ted Leo/Pharmacists – Living WithThe Living (Touch And Go) Ted Leo is a staple in indie rock! With his latest album he’s aligned himself with greatness.

3		Dalek – Abandoned Language (Ipecac) Dalek’s Hip-Hop defies boundaries man, and this album throws in layer upon layer of sound.

4		The Jai-Alai Savant-Flight Of The Bass Delegate (Gold Standard Labs) Ralph Darden & Co. are amazing. They pull influences from the same place the Police do.

5		Ozomatli – Don’t Mess With The Dragon (Concord) A hodgepodge of influences as Latin rhythms combines with Hip Hop to take center stage.

6		Enon – Grass Geysers…Carbon Clouds (Touch And Go) You can’t consider them “former members of” anymore. They just blow minds on their own.

7		Aceyalone – Lightning Strikes (Recon) While you wait for that new Damian Marley CD, Ace (w/ Bionik) will hold you over.

8		Channels – Waiting For The Next End Of The World (Dischord) J. Robbins and his crew give everyone exactly what they want with this joint. Blistering guitars and gorgeous harmonies.

9		Che Arthur – Iron (Sickroom) Che surprised the hell out of me! Arena rock sounds for the indie kids…and me too of course.

10		Brother Ali – The Undisputed Truth (Rhymesayers) The undisputed truth is that Brother Ali is the baddest motherfucker next to Samuel L.

11		Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings – 100 Days, 100 Nights (Daptone) They may sound as if they’ve come directly out of 1967 but(!) this 2007 release may be as good as anything Aretha released.

12		Saul Williams – The Inevitable Rise and Liberation of Niggy Tardust (Self-released) This is what you get when you hammer a book of poetry with a Nine Inch Nail onto a blank slate…an amazing piece of work.

13		Bear Claw – Slow Speed: Deep Owls (Sickroom) It’s a crying shame that you’re not paying attention to Bear Claw and their Albini produced album that’s fucking awesome!

14		K-Os – Atlantis: Hymns For Disco (Virgin Records) Yeah, Canadian rappers are mostly unknown but K-Os isn’t. Dope music, dope rhymes and he doesn’t even have to use foul language. Many can learn from him.

15		Bottomless Pit – Hammer Of The Gods (Matador) I wanted to list Audioslave’s last fully realized record but instead I went with the Hammer! Ex-Silkworm & Seam members. Yeah, it’s what diehard fans like me would come to expect and love!
